You are right to ask...Why her? What does she really know? Well I have a secret advantage that blows the doors off academics--I can switch between disciplines in a heartbeat. I have NO swim lanes forcing me to look only through a particular lens be it communication, journalistic, psychological, sociological, or public relations, and that gives me an advantage. Some of the experts out there are still claiming that critical thinking protects you from media manipulation, but they are dead wrong. It is all about trust- that gets tapped all across society and keeps giving. This is why people in democracies are MORE vulnerable to manipulation than full on totalitarian regimes, and no one teaches how to spot it like I do.
